Terry Hair - Varsity Head Coach, (913) 481-3990
Terry has been a Varsity Men and Women's soccer coach in Olathe since 1981. He has coached 2,500 wonderful student athletes that have both touched his life and have provided him incredible memories. Over the years, he has had teams that have won League titles, Regional titles, and State Championships. These accolades did not just happen. Terry has had masterful mentors both in high school and in college where he learned from the best. His high school coach, Terry Michler and his college coach at Rockhurst University, Tony Tocco both have been named National Coach of the Year by the NSCAA. Coach Michler at CBC high school in St. Louis, MO has over 800 game wins, making him the winningest coach in the entire United States. Terry Hair and his wife Mary both teach at Olathe East and are lifelong educators with a passion and dedication towards developing the best from those that they meet along the way. "It is my extreme pleasure to being able to coach your son or daughter and to prepare them to perform at their maximum potential."
Richard Downing - Freshman/Sophomore Coach, (913) 553-7555
C-Team Coach Richard Downing has played or coached soccer for over 40 years on three different continents. From his beginning in youth soccer leagues in Germany and England to his current position at Olathe East, Coach Downing has always loved what Pele called "The beautiful game." Coach Downing is married to Kathryn and has two children, Ethan and Halle. During the day, he works with special needs students and is a student himself at Moody Bible Institute
Keeley O'Grady - Junior Varsity Coach, (913) 579-6404
Keeley has coached under Coach Hair and the Olathe East Mens' and Womens' programs since 2004. In that time he has been a C team and Junior Varsity coach, and the Men's Varsity Assistant coach over the last 6 years. He has been teaching at Olathe East since 2001; currently teaching Personal Finance, Management, and Marketing. He attended Creighton University graduating in 1998. After graduating he spent some time working for the former Kansas City Attack. Keeley takes great pleasure in coaching and interacting with each player, students, and their families. "Our parents and players make Olathe East a special place to not only coach but to teach at, I enjoy being part of such a great community. "
Joe Toigo - Assistant Varsity Coach, (816) 799-2544
Joe joins the Olathe East family after a successful career in Missouri, that culminated with his selection to the Missouri Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in December 2016. His coaching career began at Rockhurst in 1984 when he coached the Women’s Club Team, which would evolve into the Varsity Team four years later. While the majority of his career was in the Park Hill School District, he was first introduced to the High School level in 1989 at his Alma Mater Duchesne High School in St. Charles, MO. “I was honored when my high school coach, Dave Thurmer, asked me to join his staff”, Toigo continued, “it was a great experience working with the players, and it led me to leave my family’s restaurant and become a full-time teacher.” Joe, his wife Kim, and their daughter Mia reside in the northland. Mia is a freshman at Park Hill South, and will play soccer there in the spring. At East his goals for the players are that they continuously strive to improve, and develop a passion for the game that they too will pass on to their children and other players, as his coaches did for him.
